Digital mammogram

Digital mammogram:

Mammogram plays a vital role in early detection of breast cancer. Women aged 40 years and above should ideally undergo mammogram once a year. Mammogram has been shown to lower the risk of dying from breast cancer by 35% in women over the age of 50. Alpha RT high value mammography unit installed in our centre is designed to enhance patient friendliness and image quality. This unit is equipped with two filters, one Molybdenum and one Rhodium, with automatic selection. Molybdenum filter is used to provide high contrast for average and small breasts and Rhodium filter for dense breasts. This automatic filter selection results in lower glandular dose and exposure time. This technology, combined with computed radiography system, enables consistent high quality Digital Mammogram images, at a much lower radiation dose to patients.
